Guess Who Gets Screwed From Obama’s “TAX RELIEF GIFT”?

Millions of couples, retirees may have to repay some of Obama tax credit

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.

The government is going to want some of that money back.

The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.

But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time.

At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income.

The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers.

"They need to get the Goodyear blimp out there on this," said Tom Ochsenschlager, vice president of taxation for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

For many, the new tax tables will simply mean smaller-than-expected tax refunds next year, IRS spokesman Terry Lemons said. The average refund was nearly $2,700 this year.

But taxpayers who calculate their withholding so they get only small refunds could face an unwelcome tax bill next April, said Jackie Perlman, an analyst with the Tax Institute at H&R Block.

"They are going to get a surprise," she said.

Perlman's advice: check your federal withholding to make sure sufficient taxes are being taken out of your pay. If you are married and both spouses work, you might consider having taxes withheld at the higher rate for single filers. If you have multiple jobs, you might consider having extra taxes withheld by one of your employers. You can make that request with a Form W-4.

The IRS has a calculator on its Web site to help taxpayers figure withholding. So do many private tax preparers.

Obama has touted the tax credit as one of the big achievements of his first 100 days in office, boasting that 95 percent of working families will qualify in 2009 and 2010.

The credit pays workers 6.2 percent of their earned income, up to a maximum of $400 for individuals and $800 for married couples who file jointly. Individuals making more $95,000 and couples making more than $190,000 are ineligible.

The tax credit was designed to help boost the economy by getting more money to consumers in their regular paychecks. Employers were required to start using the new withholding tables by April 1.

The tables, however, don't take into account several common categories of taxpayers, experts said.

For example:

--A single worker with two jobs making $20,000 a year at each job will get a $400 boost in take-home pay at each of them, for a total of $800. That worker, however, is eligible for a maximum credit of $400, so the remaining $400 will have to be paid back at tax time -- either through a smaller refund or a payment to the IRS.

The IRS recognized there could be a similar problem for married couples if both spouses work, so it adjusted the withholding tables. The fix, however, was imperfect.

-- A married couple with a combined income of $50,000 is eligible for an $800 credit. However, if both spouses work and make more than $13,000, the new withholding tables give them each a $600 boost -- for a total of $1,200.

There were 33 million married couples in 2008 in which both spouses worked. That's 55 percent of all married couples, according to the Census Bureau.

-- A single college student with a part-time job making $10,000 would get a $400 boost in pay. However, if that student is claimed as a dependent on a parent's tax return, she doesn't qualify for the credit and would have to repay it when she files next year.

Some retirees face even bigger headaches.

The Social Security Administration is sending out $250 payments to more than 50 million retirees in May as part of the economic stimulus package. The payments will go to people who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, railroad retirement benefits or veteran's disability benefits.

The payments are meant to provide a boost for people who don't qualify for the tax credit. However, they will go to retirees even if they have earned income and receive the credit. Those retirees will have the $250 payment deducted from their tax credit -- but not until they file their tax returns next year, long after the money may have been spent.

Retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from pension benefits also are getting an income boost as a result of the new withholding tables. However, pension benefits are not earned income, so they don't qualify for the tax credit. That money will have to paid back next year when tax returns are filed.

More than 20 million retirees and survivors receive payments from defined benefit pension plans, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute. However, it is unclear how many have federal taxes withheld from their payments.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union raised concerns about the effect of the tax credit on pension payments in a letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in March.

Geithner responded that Treasury and IRS understood the concerns and were "exploring ways to mitigate that effect."

Rep. Dave Camp of Michigan, the top Republican on the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, said Geithner has yet to respond to concerns raised by committee members.

"So far we've got the, 'If we don't address this maybe it will go away' approach," Camp said.

Triple – A Double - D

Adult Acquired Attention

Deficit Disorder

And that is how I rate the Obama administration in its first one hundred days!

Not long ago a friend of mine sent me an e-mail titled AAADD.  In it he described a typical day for him, it was replete with going from one thing to another without finishing any of the things he started and by the end of the day he couldn’t figure out why he was so darned tired since he never seemed to get anything done.  This e-mail was sent out as a joke and it gave me a good chuckle as I have had many of those days since I retired.  Yet, when I look at what our illustrious President and his lapdog congress has acted in the first 100 days since he was sworn into office, that is exactly what I have seen . . . And it ain’t one bit funny!

We have had one crisis after another, sometimes two a day.  Every day it is one thing or another . . .

First the fat cat payoff smokescreened as an emergency bailout of Wall Street to “save our economy” – which hasn’t worked.

Next the AIG bonuses smokescreen to get our mind off the upcoming tax day tea party’s – oh yeah, that went over like a lead balloon!

Then the takeover of GM and the illegal and unconstitutional firing of the CEO – and still GM needs billions more to stay afloat.

I am not going to boor any of you with any more details since I am quite sure that those who do read this blog know all too well what is happening up there in DC – Now with the Swine Flu “epidemic” crisis in which he ushered in another nutcase into his cabinet, along with the forced union takeover of GM and Chrysler . . .

I just cannot believe that I am the only one in this country that thinks this is all very illegal, am I?

Today, I got another e-mail from the same friend who sent me the AAADD e-mail.  I will past it here for you to read;

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday.
The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
I think this guy nailed it!
Dear Mr. President,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.  Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.  - Pay them
$1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following
stipulations:
1) They MUST retire.  Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American CAR.  Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!
! P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in your Cabinet pay their taxes...

The human swine flu outbreak continues to grow in the United States and internationally. Today, CDC reports additional cases of confirmed swine influenza and a number of hospitalizations of swine flu patients. Internationally, the situation is more serious too, with additional countries reporting confirmed cases of swine flu. In response to the intensifying outbreak, the World Health Organization raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 4External Web Site Policy.. A Phase 4 alert is characterized by confirmed person-to-person spread of a new influenza virus able to cause “community-level” outbreaks.” The increase in the pandemic alert phase indicates that the likelihood of a pandemic has increased.

CDC has activated its emergency operations center to coordinate the agency’s emergency response. CDC ’s goals are to reduce transmission and illness severity, and provide information to help health care providers, public health officials and the public address the challenges posed by this swine influenza virus. Yesterday, CDC issued a travel warning recommending that people avoid non-essential travel to Mexico. CDC continues to issue interim guidance daily on the website and through health alert network notices. CDC’s Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is releasing one-quarter of its antiviral drugs, personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection devices to help states respond to the outbreak. The swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is susceptible to the prescription antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir. This is a rapidly evolving situation and CDC will provide updated guidance and new information as it becomes available.

SWINE FLU UPDATE!

Current WHO phase of pandemic alert

The Following Is an update from the World Health Organization and is copied and pasted here for your cinvenience.

Swine influenza
27 April 2009 -- The Emergency Committee, established in compliance with the International Health Regulations (2005), held its second meeting on 27 April 2009. The Committee considered available data on confirmed outbreaks of A/H1N1 swine influenza in the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada. The Committee also considered reports of possible spread to additional countries. On the advice of the Committee, the WHO Director-General has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert from the current phase 3 to phase 4.

Current phase of alert in the WHO global influenza preparedness plan
Pandemic preparedness

In the 2009 revision of the phase descriptions, WHO has retained the use of a six-phased approach for easy incorporation of new recommendations and approaches into existing national preparedness and response plans. The grouping and description of pandemic phases have been revised to make them easier to understand, more precise, and based upon observable phenomena. Phases 1–3 correlate with preparedness, including capacity development and response planning activities, while Phases 4–6 clearly signal the need for response and mitigation efforts. Furthermore, periods after the first pandemic wave are elaborated to facilitate post pandemic recovery activities.

The current WHO phase of pandemic alert is 4.

phase4

This is NOT a panic alert!

This post is meant to keep you informed enough so that you may take the necessary precautions needed to protect your health and the health of your family and loved ones.

I shall continue with these updates as necessary and when I become aware of them.

I urge all who may read this weblog to continue to check with the W.H.O. website on a regular basis (google it) and to not rely on this blog or other commercial news sources for your information.

I say this because I know that the MSM tries to make a mountain out of molehills in order to increase their ratings.  The best weapon against panic is correct information from the source of that information, and in this case it is the World Health Organization.

That website is located here;

http://www.who.int/en/

I also urge my readers to contact their local health professionals for information regarding their personal and neighborhood preparedness preparations.

Statement by WHO Director-General, Dr Margaret Chan
25 April 2009

In response to cases of swine influenza A(H1N1), reported in Mexico and the United States of America, the Director-General convened a meeting of the Emergency Committee to assess the situation and advise her on appropriate responses.

The establishment of the Committee, which is composed of international experts in a variety of disciplines, is in compliance with the International Health Regulations (2005).

The first meeting of the Emergency Committee was held on Saturday 25 April 2009.

After reviewing available data on the current situation, Committee members identified a number of gaps in knowledge about the clinical features, epidemiology, and virology of reported cases and the appropriate responses.

The Committee advised that answers to several specific questions were needed to facilitate its work.

The Committee nevertheless agreed that the current situation constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.

Based on this advice, the Director-General has determined that the current events constitute a public health emergency of international concern, under the Regulations.

Concerning public health measures, in line with the Regulations the Director-General is recommending, on the advice of the Committee, that all countries intensify surveillance for unusual outbreaks of influenza-like illness and severe pneumonia.

The Committee further agreed that more information is needed before a decision could be made concerning the appropriateness of the current phase 3.

Swine flu illness in the United States and Mexico - update 2

26 April 2009 -- As of 26 April 2009, the United States Government has reported 20 laboratory confirmed human cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 (8 in New York, 7 in California, 2 in Texas, 2 in Kansas and 1 in Ohio). All 20 cases have had mild Influenza-Like Illness with only one requiring brief hospitalization. No deaths have been reported. All 20 viruses have the same genetic pattern based on preliminary testing. The virus is being described as a new subtype of A/H1N1 not previously detected in swine or humans.

Also as of 26 April, the Government of Mexico has reported 18 laboratory confirmed cases of swine influenza A/H1N1. Investigation is continuing to clarify the spread and severity of the disease in Mexico. Suspect clinical cases have been reported in 19 of the country's 32 states.

WHO and the Global Alert and Response Network (GOARN) are sending experts to Mexico to work with health authorities. WHO and its partners are actively investigating reports of suspect cases in other Member States as they occur, and are supporting field epidemiology activities, laboratory diagnosis and clinical management.

On Saturday, 25 April, upon the advice of the Emergency Committee called under the rules of the International Health Regulations, the Director-General declared this event a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

WHO is not recommending any travel or trade restrictions.

Lets start fixing the problems . . . From the ground up!

A friend of mine posted on another blog how he endured the "Blizzard of 1993" down in Georgia. In his post he described how powerlines and trees were downed for miles around and he was without electricity for two weeks or more. I remember seeing the photos of that storm back then, and it brought something to my mind in a flash!

In Southern California where I have lived mostly since 1960, each and every year the have these winds called Santa Ana Winds, and these winds blow big rigs over and off the highways, and trees are blown down by the dozens, along with powerlines - the results are wildfires. Wildfires in the southwest are devastating, they burn down entire towns, and not to mention hundreds of thousands of acres of forest land.

If the environmentalist whackos want a bandwagon to get on, do I have a great one for them!

My wife worked up in the San Bernardino Mountains for almost twenty years. Once, during a "March Madness" snowstorm I drove her up to work, but when it came time to go get her, the CHP was not letting anyone up the hill unless they lived there so she had to bum a ride from another person to get down to where the road was blocked where I was waiting for her. She told me that this person had been raised in Switzerland, and he said that none of their powerlines were above ground because of the heavy snowfall, that the snowfall would always break the lines that was above ground. Wow! What a concept! Put the powerlines underground so the snowfall won't break them.

I have a friend that worked for SCE at the time. I asked him about that concept. I then found out what kind of ire that idea would draw from - who else? - THE UNIONS! The unions strictly forbade that idea. Why? Well, just how many jobs would be lost in repairing and replacing those broken lines, fighting those wildfires, maintaining all those towers, etc, etc.

Well, those of you who have read my writings for any length of time know what I think of unions, so I don't have to say it again.

Here is my plan;

We can start curing the ills of this nation by getting practical. If our government really wants to spend money to get our nation out of this depression - I REFUSE to buy into the lie of recession - the money we can spend should be used to hire people to put all those power lines in the national grid UNDERGROUND! And we already have the corridors to do that in. They are called "The Interstate Highway System" . . . You know, the one that President Dwight David Eisenhower pushed for and got built.

If you do any long distance driving at all, then you know that most of these roads are separated by a very wide median, and it is in this very median that the new power grid can be built UNDERGROUND.

Once the national grid is complete, then we can turn to the local grids with the eventual goal of putting all electrical power lines underground. This would end the power lines being blown down and starting all those wildfires, and power outages in the winter snowstorms. Gee, what a concept!

First, it would go a very long way in modernizing our power grid. Second, it would save all those trees and wildlife that the environmentalist whackos love so much. Third, it would actually IMPROVE our national economy by CREATING jobs instead of soup kitchens. And finally it just might even give the voting public something to actually LIKE our congress for doing!

Okay, America, its now up to John Q. Citizen to get congress to get on the bandwagon for this . . . And don't forget those environmentalist whackos out there - here is something that would actually draw support for you from the general public . . . Hey, if you help us get this done, we might not call you guys whackos anymore!

Who's talking to the man in the mirror, anybody in Congress?

Quite some time ago, a singer who became known as "The One Gloved Wonder" released a song entitled "The Man In The Mirror", in it the singer referred to his image in the mirror and that he was going to change his ways . . . Which brings me to what I am writing about this evening.

Yesterday I had to go to my dentist and have a root canal done. Not a pleasant thing to have done if anyone who has ever been there knows. While reclined in the chair waiting for the Novocain to take hold, the radio speaker in the ceiling that was tuned to a local radio station began playing Michael Jackson's "The Man In The Mirror", which I thought was odd for a country and western station. At the end of the song the DJ allowed the requester's voice to b heard. This anonymous lady wanted to dedicate the song to all our members in congress, and you know THAT brought a smile to my face. My dentist still hasn't figured out why a man who was waiting to get a root canal was smiling . . .

I am now asking the question of do our elected officials actually LIKE the person they see in the mirror in the morning? How can they?

Over the last thirty or so years, congress has done nothing but drill holes in the bottom of the ship, while the Presidents have been busy re-arranging the deck chairs in order for us passengers to be more comfortable when it finally does sink.

And what about the current administrations cabinet members? You know, the ones who have had a real problem in paying their taxes - at least until they got nominated for their cabinet post.

Nancy Pelosi, our esteemed speaker of the house who has demanded that the U.S.A.F. provide her with bigger and better aircraft to transport he and her cronies around the world in the lap of luxury. When that didn't happen, her husband provided her with one of his corporate jets - for which he was heavily reimbursed by the government. Our tax dollars at work.

Somehow I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the fact that almost all of the 535 combined members of Congress have no integrity what so ever. There has to be at least one of them who is honest, doesn't there?

I have looked even at Ron Paul, who some people in Texas (my brother included) think would have been a better pick to head the ship than Obama - that is until I remembered that there was a report that named all the porkers who contributed to the spendulas bill, and yep, his name was on it.

I, for one, think it is about time that those in Congress start plugging up these holes that they have been drilling, then throw the captain over board and find someone - or even a number of someone's - who can steer this ship away from iceberg ally.

They can start by distancing themselves from the failing political platforms built with the rotting planks of the political parties that they are beholden to.

I know from my 20 year experience in the USMC that a man who cannot stand on his own principles and integrity, cannot stand on anything!

You have to accept and like the man in the mirror that you see each and every morning or you are doomed to be a dismal failure.

The 535 members of this Titanic crew called the United States Congress are dismal failures.

She IS from another Planet!!!!!!!!!!

Our Secretary Of The Department Of Homeland Security, Janet (FROM ANOTHER PLANET) Napolitano is now on record for saying the following;

"because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil."

Maybe she should read the U.S. Code . . .

ENTRY WITHOUT INSPECTION IS A CRIME: In fact, pursuant to 8 U.S.C. 1325, crossing the border illegally is a crime–a misdemeanor for the first offense and a felony for the second and subsequent offenses.

Day in, day out . . . Gloom and doom, murders, rapes, robberies, mayhem, wars, sex, lies and videotape, ad infinitum!

So I researched past stories - yep, the same old stuff. Even on the day of the tea parties we had the same old stuff. On the local (phoenix is local for the entire state of Arizona) TV news today was what do you think? A protest! Thats what!

What protest?

ILLEGAL ALIENS WANT IMMIGRATION REFORM! That protest. why? WHY? WHY?

The leadoff words were "Dozens protest for immigration reform" and thats as far as I got before I shut off the TV lest I shoot it . . .

Out of all the crap going on in the world today and everyday, our news folks in Phoenix are worried about "dozens" of folks protesting for immigration reform.

Yet, when almost a million people protested nation wide against our runaway government spending and such, what happened? Nary a word from our local TV folks, and that brings me to ask the very pertinent question;

ARE THEY DRUNK, ON DRUGS, OR JUST PLAIN STUPID?

No new post tonight . . . . . However . . .

Tonight I am the featured guest post author on USWeapon's blog; Stand Up For America.

So I urge all who frequent this blog of mine to find the link to the right and check it out. The comments ought to be interesting!

The Tea Party I Attended - A Very Different Experiance, Indeed!

This post will have a lot of pictures, but you will have to wait for the video's - there are two of them, and I am currantly having issues with Windows Vista . . . again!

If you click on the photos, you can see the full size one. Enjoy!

I want the reader to pay very close attention to these photos and tomorrows videos. Look at the detail, look at the people, look at their signs. Everyone who's photo I took gave me verbal permission to post them online on this blog, I just wouldn't do it without their permission. Most asked me if I was a reporter, and of course I said no that I was a blogger and wanted to post the photo on my blog. They all agreed.

This was the sentiment of most folks here

Notice what I did? Do you see what I see? I will get back to those questions a little later in this post, but for now I want to address something else. I remember a while back when the MSM had extensive coverage of another protest that took place in California, Arizona and a lot of other places around the USA. It was called "A Day Without A Mexican". The MSM made no secret that this protest was about illegal aliens being deported for coming here illegally. They made a big deal about how these protests just "sprang up" on their own. Do you remember those demonstrations?

Now let me say something about the demeanor of these protesters that we were in the middle of. They were very upset at what our government is doing up there in DC. They were fed up with the garbage legislation, the slight of hand at removing our freedoms, the attempts at gun control, and many other things.

For all of the above, these were the nicest bunch of protesters that this ex-cop has ever seen in my entire life! They were considerate of the many elderly in our midst (many MUCH older than myself), they were considerate of our surroundings and made sure that there was no trash left on the ground, that nothing was damaged, and they even thanked the Lake Havasu City policemen that were assigned to crowd control. Yes, I seen that with my own two eyes, and heard it with even the one almost deaf ear that I have!

THESE PROTESTERS WERE ALL VERY DECENT AND LAW ABIDING PEOPLE!

Extremists? You bet we are, we are EXTREMELY upset that our government not only does not listen to us, but that our government has now lumped us into the same category as the Islamic Extremists!

Right Wing? I don't think so. I found myself in the midst of Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, and Republicans.

And one lone Anarchist.

Is that you, Black Flag?

There were Christians . . .

And those who would speak for the unborn, who have no voice . . .

We walked across the London Bridge to the Island of Lake Havasu . . .

We had entertainment, speeches that reflected our sentiment, and all the while we remained peaceful but firm in our protest. We will not be defrayed!

Now to get back to the question at the beginning of this post . . .

Unlike the day without a mexican protest gatherings . . .

Our signs were all HAND MADE by the individual protesters themselves! This reflects, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that we all think for ourselves!

No one tells us what to think or say, because we are all FREE Americans!

And we intend to stay that way!

BAROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM

In honor of the 44th President of the United States,
Barney-Pelosi Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor; "Barocky Road".

Barocky Road is a blend of half Vanilla, half
Chocolate, and surrounded by Nuts and Flakes.

The Vanilla portion of the mix is not openly
advertised and usually denied as an ingredient.

The Nuts and Flakes are all very bitter and hard to
swallow.

The cost is $100.00 per scoop.

When purchased it will be presented to you in a
large beautiful cone, but then the Ice Cream is taken away and given to the
person in line behind you.

Thus you are left with an empty Wallet, no change,
holding an empty cone, with no hope of getting any
Ice Cream.

Are you feeling stimulated?

Barack Hussein Obama's Pipe Dream On Global Warming Cure!

I will bet even money that you will hear nothing but positive remarks on this from the mainstream news media!

THIS STORY FROM FOX NEWS dot COM

Obama May Block Sun's Rays to End Global Warming

Wednesday, April 08, 2009

WASHINGTON — The president's new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air.

John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed.

One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.

"It's got to be looked at," he said. "We don't have the luxury of taking any approach off the table."

Holdren outlined several "tipping points" involving global warming that could be fast approaching.

Once such milestones are reached, such as complete loss of summer sea ice in the Arctic, it increases chances of "really intolerable consequences," he said.

Twice in a half-hour interview, Holdren compared global warming to being "in a car with bad brakes driving toward a cliff in the fog."

At first, Holdren characterized the potential need to technologically tinker with the climate as just his personal view. However, he went on to say he has raised it in administration discussions.

Holdren, a 65-year-old physicist, is far from alone in taking geoengineering more seriously.

The National Academy of Science is making climate tinkering the subject of its first workshop in its new multidiscipline climate challenges program.

The British parliament has also discussed the idea.

The American Meteorological Society is crafting a policy statement on geoengineering that says "it is prudent to consider geoengineering's potential, to understand its limits and to avoid rash deployment."

Last week, Princeton scientist Robert Socolow told the National Academy that geoengineering should be an available option in case climate worsens dramatically.

But Holdren noted that shooting particles into the air — making an artificial volcano as one Nobel laureate has suggested — could have grave side effects and would not completely solve all the problems from soaring greenhouse gas emissions.

So such actions could not be taken lightly, he said.

Still, "we might get desperate enough to want to use it," he added.

Another geoengineering option he mentioned was the use of so-called artificial trees to suck carbon dioxide — the chief human-caused greenhouse gas — out of the air and store it.

At first that seemed prohibitively expensive, but a re-examination of the approach shows it might be less costly, he said.

Used Tea Bag Sending Instructions!

Directions for tea bag envelopes

Since everyone in D.C. is paranoid about envelopes containing anything but paper, in order to not get a visit from your local P.D. or even worse the FBI, it is a very good idea to list the contents of the tea bag envelope on the outside of the envelope. What we did at my house is in bold and underlined letters on the back side of the envelope were the words
"Contents of this envelope"
. Underneath that were the words
"One information sheet containing the contact information of the sender of this envelope"
. Underneath that were the words
"One used tea bag"
. Underneath that were the words
"These items were sent to signify our dissatisfaction with the garbage level legislation and the unrepresented and unfair tax increases that the politician to whom this envelope is addressed to has been and continues to be a major part of"
. And below that in bright red bold italic and underlined were the words
"We the people are the employer . . . you the politicians are the employees"

On the contact information sheet we listed our name and address, our home phone number, our cell phone number, our email address and this weblog address. Then we added the following;

The used tea bag in this envelope is to signify to you our displeasure at your continued involvement in the garbage legislation and unfair and non-represented tax increases that has been the beginning hallmark of the new Presidential administration.

We want to bring to your attention that even though this President won the election, that in no stretch of anyone’s imagination this is to be considered a blank check for this administration to squander what little is left of the American economy.

This is also a gentle reminder to you that “We The People Of These United States Of America” are in fact the government and that you the politician are in fact our employees that we hire by way of elections to run the business of our country’s government.

This is provided for in our Constitution, and also provided for in our Constitution are several ways that we the people may show our displeasure should you not be doing the job for which you were hired. This letter is one. Another is the April 15 Tax Day Tea Party that is being held nationwide.

These instructions are provided to help you make the tea bag protest a successful one. We also removed the metal staples from our tea bags, and also dried them out completely. Our post office clerk told me that one lady had actually tried to send a wet teabag . . . obviously that didn't work, but I fully understand her reasoning!

See you at the tea party!

THIS WAS NO APRIL FOOLS JOKE!

So tell me . . . When does ILLEGAL mean ILLEGAL?

Homeland Security Frees 27 Illegal Immigrants, Sends Them Back to Work

Wednesday, April 01, 2009
By Dan Springer

SEATTLE — The Department of Homeland Security freed 27 illegal immigrants arrested during a workplace raid in February and offered them legal work permits, signaling a major departure from the immigration enforcement policy of the Bush administration.

The Feb. 24 raid of an auto parts plant in Bellingham, Wash., netted 28 illegal immigrants. While one was deported, the remaining workers were released from custody and given employment authorization documents, or EADs, in exchange for cooperating with an ongoing investigation of their employer, Yamato Engine Specialists.

The EAD is a temporary work permit most commonly given to people applying for green cards or citizenship. It usually lasts for one year, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) sources tell FOX News that these work permits will expire when the case against Yamato is closed.

Immigrant rights activists support the move and the new direction Secretary Janet Napolitano is taking the Homeland Security Department with her focus on penalizing employers rather than the immigrants themselves.

"She is crafting and the people in her department are crafting a strategy that could target some people who are abusive and manipulative as employers," said Pramila Jayapal, executive director of the Seattle-based immigrant aid group OneAmerica.

But critics say the softened policy will increase the number of illegal immigrants entering the country.

"The signal that it sends to illegal immigrants is that if you can get here, you're pretty much home free," said Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

The Bellingham raid was the first and only mass arrest of immigrants since President Obama took office and came as a shock to Napolitano, who ordered a review of the incident the day after.

"I didn't know about it beforehand," she told the House Homeland Security Committee the morning following the raid. "I want to get to the bottom of this as well."

The response from the Department of Homeland Security marks a major shift from the last years of the Bush administration, when workplace arrests of illegals were commonplace.

Criminal arrests of employers who hired illegal immigrants skyrocketed from 25 in 2002 to 1,103 in 2008. The number of deportations jumped from 485 to 5,184 over that same time period. The Obama administration has sought a freeze on immigrant arrests.

Enforcement advocates say Americans should be outraged by the government giving illegal immigrants a right to work when unemployment is so high for documented workers.

Unemployment in Whatcom County, home to the Yamato plant, has risen to 8.1 percent, and in the days after the Yamato raid, more than 150 people applied for the jobs made open by the arrests.

Immigrant groups say the release was a humane act that is keeping families together and allowing them to earn a decent living.

Secretary Napolitano is expected to soon formally announce new guidelines for workplace immigration enforcement.

An I.C.E source in Washington D.C. disputes the claim that this marks a new policy telling FOX News the work permits are issued as an investigative tool to get cooperation from the illegal immigrants.

Now, Just What Does ILLEGAL Mean To You?

Last night while perusing the Internet, I noticed a story on the Fox News Website about how our illustrious Department of Homeland Non-Security decided unilaterally to release twenty seven illegal aliens that had been arrested last February during an illegal alien sweep in the state of Washington. Not only did DHS release those illegal aliens, but they were issued work permits and visas and told to go back to work at the factory where they had been arrested in the first place.

What?

I turned off my computer and went to bed, lest my normally high blood pressure go off the scale.

It is now three in the afternoon. I have not been able to find that story on the FNC website. I have been trying since ten this morning.

What happened?

Why did this story disappear? If any of my readers can find any reference to the above mentioned article anywhere besides this blog, please let me know where to find it so that I may republish it in its entirety.

This vanishing act has inspired this weeks poll question.
