What is Transnationalism? Why should it bother you?

The new buzzwords around D.C. since Obama took office are many and confusing. One phrase is "Transnational Globalization Economy" . . . Try saying that five times real fast without biting your tongue!

Since I have absolutely no idea what it means, I looked it up on the Internet today and this is all I could find that I could actually make any sense out of.

This still leaves me scratching my head, so if any of my readers know anything more on this subject, PLEASE feel free to enlighten me and everyone else who is scratching their heads as well.

Transnationalism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Transnationalism is a social movement grown out of the heightened interconnectivity between people all and the loosening of boundaries between countries.

The term was coined in the early 20th century by writer Randolph Bourne to describe a new way of thinking about relationships between cultures.

Transnationalism as an economic process involves the global reorganization of the production process, in which various stages of the production of any product can occur in various countries, typically with the aim of minimizing costs. Economic transnationalism, commonly known as Globalization was spurred in the latter half of the 20th century by the development of the internet and wireless communication, as well as the reduction in global transportation costs caused by containerization. Multinational corporations could be seen as a form of transnationalism, in that Multinational Corporations seek to minimize costs, and hence maximize profits, by organizing their operations in the most efficient means possible irrespective of political boundaries.

Proponents of transnationalism seek to facilitate the flow of people, ideas, and goods between regions. They believe that it has increasing relevance with the rapid growth of globalization. They contend that it does not make sense to link specific nation-state boundaries with for instance migratory workforces, globalized corporations, global money flow, global information flow, and global scientific cooperation.

Transnationalism designates a recent shift in migration patterns. Migration used to be a rather directed movement with a point of departure and a point of arrival. It is nowadays increasingly turning into an ongoing movement between two or more social spaces. Facilitated by increased global transportation and telecommunication technologies, more and more migrants have developed strong transnational ties to more than one home country, blurring the congruence of social space and geographic space.

Diasporas, such as the overseas Chinese, are a historical precursor to modern transnationalism. However, unlike people with transnationalist lives, most diasporas have not been voluntary. The field of diaspora politics does consider modern diasporas as having the potential to be transnational political actors.

If yesterday's post didn't bother you, THIS SHOULD!

Again click on the title to this post . . .

The author of this video that I found on You Tube put in the background music and some written information during the first part of it. It explains who these kids are, where they are at, and who put them up to it.

Your educational tax dollars at work, my friends!

I just don't know why the MSM hasn't asked any questions about any of this! Why did I find this buried in a You Tube file? Is this what is meant by "Mandatory Volunteerism"?

This sure looks like Hitler Youth to me!

New additions to this blog . . .

As you can see, I have added some new things to this blog of mine.

Immediately to the right you can see the video bar that has four videos that I think might be of interest to all readers.

At the bottom of this blog is a headline trailer that provides links to CNSNews, a conservative network news service that has real news articles that you just won't find on any of the MSM sites. Not that they aren't news worthy, its just that the MSM chooses to ignore the obvious for the obvious reasons.

Enjoy your reading!

Check out the weekly poll, please!

If you scroll down this blog you will see a poll at the lower right corner near the bottom. I will be posting a new one about each week. The one you see there is just a test, but maybe not, to let you know where it is.

Future polls will be much more provocative and, to say the least, controversial in what the question will be and what the available answers will point to.

After all, what is a challenge without a challenge?

A Video Worth Watching!

You all need to watch this video as many times as it takes to comprehend and understand EXACTLY what is happening to our country today!

Do you really understand what our President is doing?

Our new President, Barack Hussein Obama, is going to put our national debt at ten trillion dollars. Do you really comprehend that amount of money? If not, then please click on the title of this article, or copy and past the below url in your web browsers address line. It is a very interesting article to read.

GET UP AND DO SOMETHING!

Once again our president pre-empts the most watched prime time television show in order to speak directly to his adoring public and sell his plan to bring this once free nation deeper into the depths of socialism. As his awestruck audience inhales his very essence, the man the mainstream news media has championed as the messiah of the masses will further his quest to complete the socialization of all private business well ahead of schedule. The plan is coming together oh so smoothly, and the best part is that his adoring public is totally clueless as to his real intentions.

Sound like something out of a science fiction novel? Sadly it isn’t. It is happening today, the 24th of March 2009 at 8:00PM EDT. America’s favorite talent show, American Idol, is being pre-empted for the messiah’s news conference. The same thing happened last week. This is not a coincidence, folks, this is by design! And if you buy into it, you will be taken for such a ride that not even the old Disneyland E-tickets could come close to matching. Down we spiral into the depths of the socialization of the United States of America, ever so deeper and ever so farther away from the public control of our government that our forefathers purposefully designed into their unique governmental system.

Do we the people want to continue on this route? And if not, just what can we do about it? We can bring our governmental system into the 21st Century is what we can do.

How?

1. Abolish ALL political parties.
2. Return the appointment of Senators to the Governors of the states whom they will represent.
3. Separate the Judiciary Branch from the Executive Branch by making the Judiciary a vote in position.
4. Replace the office of President with a Presidential Council.
5. Bring the pay and benefits of politicians down to the level of everyday folks.

That’s how.

That is exactly how to take the D.C. elite down off of their ivory pedestals that we the people have allowed them to build for themselves with our complacency.

We can start by calling and emailing the white house and our political representatives to protest against the current policies of American Socialization.

You can go to the following website to get the email address of your states politicians;

http://www.congress.org/

I urge you to do it now. If not for your own sake, for the sake of future generations who will not be free if you do not do something now!

Guest Blog Post from Kristy Colvin, IMDSA President

My Grandson, Austin Michael Smith

I am the Grandfather of a child with Down syndrome, to be more specific a rare form called Mosaic Down Syndrome. The lady who graciously agreed to let me post this article from her own blog is the President of the International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association. I believe that her article expresses my sentiments in a much more civilized way than if I would to post my own thoughts on our illustrious President Obama and his sick joke while on the Tonight Show last week.

I encourage all readers to visit her sit and learn much more about Mosaic Down Syndrome and the very important Special Olympics.

FYI - March 21st is National Down Syndrome Day. I challenge all to learn more about it.

Changing Perspectives One Word at a Time

Published by kristy under Down syndrome, In the News, Information for Down syndrome, International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association, Programs for Down syndrome, Services for Down syndrome, World Down Syndrome Day, advocacy, disability, mosaic Down syndrome, the "r" word Edit This

The big news for the weekend was supposed to be all about World Down Syndrome Day. This very special day set aside to celebrate the lives of those with Down syndrome. People throughout the world who know someone with Down syndrome or have Down syndrome themselves celebrated in various ways and educated their communities about who people with Down syndrome really are. When you google the topic of World Down Syndrome Day, you get 2,080,000 results. That is a lot of people spreading the word!

However, in the midst of all this celebration, US President, Barak Obama insulted those with Down syndrome and other special needs when making his comment about Special Olympics. When you google that, you get 3,730,000 results. Imagine if this had happened in the middle of the week! The results would have been much higher I imagine.

It is important to remember that it doesn’t matter if you are for or against Obama being president. The fact is that he is president. A leader of a very powerful nation. Someone that many look up to. Someone who children want to be like. Someone who represents America.

And, as a representative of America, I expect my representative to represent my feelings and my beliefs. My feelings and my beliefs are in line with what this country was founded on. That ALL people be treated equal. This does not just mean skin color, religion, or culture. This means ALL people. People with different abilities. People in wheelchairs. People with developmental delays. People who are Blind. People who are Deaf. People with extra chromosomes. People with missing chromosomes. People who are short. People who are tall. ALL people means EVERYONE.

Sure, that won’t happen all the time. Sure, there are many times when I disagree with what happens. And, yes, there is very little that I can do to change people’s perspectives. However, I can make a difference one person at a time!

On March 31 everyone throughout the world will ban together to stop the “r” word. The Special Olympics has called for a National Day of Awareness for America to stop and think about their use of the R-word. The R-word is not “recession”, but something more hurtful and painful-”retard.”

Although Special Olympics is calling for this in America, I would like to challenge each of you, no matter what part of the world you are in to educate others in your country that words do hurt. Words do make a difference. And encourage them to stop using this word. Replace your “r” word for one much more accepting. Replace it with RESPECT. To find out more about this and purchase a Tshirt or button you can go here; http://www.specialolympics.org/03-31-09_Spread_the_Word.aspx

Part Five

This will be easier said than done. I have in mind a process of how it would work after implemented, but not how to initially implement it. No matter, but we would need more than two or three to be effective.
My idea is to base this on the principle of municipal supervisors. To be fair, we could name them the Presiding Council. What is now the Presidents mansion, the white house, could be turned into the Presiding Council Offices and Meeting Chamber.
Here is the difficult part. I am thinking of five members of the Presiding Council, each elected to one and only one five year term. Every year one of the Presiding Council members would be replaced. This would ensure a smooth turnover with no radical and sudden changes in executive branch policy like we have now every four or eight years.
We would have to divide our country into five specific regions in order to have the entire country fairly and evenly represented, with each region electing its Presiding Council Member from someone who actually resided within the boundaries of that region. The regions could beset along certain states borders and labeled, say, Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest(to include Alaska), and Southwest(to include Hawaii). To be fair, only actual states could vote in this election and not Territories or D.C.
Ours is a very large country, both in geographic area and population along with our ethnic diversity. There has to be some way to fairly represent all of us while at the same time retaining control of our government.
World history has shown us that over the course of human history a government, no matter how well intended at its onset, will eventually assert itself over the very citizenry that formed it for their own protection if that citizenry does not maintain control over that government. We humans are steeped in monarchial traditions and this shows even today in our businesses by having one individual riding roughshod over a mainly impotent board of directors. Monarchs were military oriented and we need to remove ourselves from that framework.
Our own current political system has been outgrown in area, population and ethnicity and for that reason it cannot fairly represent all of us. We have allowed the three different branches to grow dangerously close together by political party affiliations and through executive appointments. It is for that reason that I have proposed these changes so that the three branches can be more separated and therefore have the check and balance system be as effective as our forefathers intended. That is also why I have proposed bringing our politicians down from their ivory towers to our level, so as to remain in touch with the common American Citizen. In so doing, keeping the average American citizen in touch with the workings of the politicians that we hire by vote to run the business of our government.
I know that these ideas are not perfect. We humans are not perfect, and nothing that we will ever build – be it political systems or some form of machinery – will ever be perfect. I do not believe we ever were intended to be perfect. So there it is. My idea as to how to fix the very broken political system that we now have in Washington D.C.
So, whaddaya think?

Part Four

This is the tough part, especially for me. I know that I am going to get a lot of flak for this, but I see no other way to make things better. By better, I mean for the people to have a more positive control in the workings of our government. So in order to make this more understandable to the reader, I first have to set your thoughts to our nation’s history.
As I said yesterday, our nation at its very beginning was rather small. Our forefathers had an idea to form a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The essence of this was that the government had to be accountable to the people in some way. That accountability was put forth into the right to vote and change the leaders of our nation every few years. Originally only landowners were eligible to vote, and that was only male landowners. That seemed to work for a while, however it was not long before non-landowners began to feel left out. After a period of time and some pressure, all male citizens who were not labeled “illiterate” were given the right to vote. Our country was expanding during this time, and we were feeling the growing pains. This resulted in some of the states splitting off and forming another country, and that did not sit well with the rest of us. As a result the Civil war was fought and eventually won by the Unionist North and our country was sort of whole again, although all was not really “hunky-dory” and still is not. We experienced even more growing pains in the years that followed, eventually females were given the right to vote yet most people of color in the old confederate states were labeled illiterate and denied the right to vote or even inhabit the same public places alongside white people. After involvement in two world wars, a few more Presidential assassinations, the integration movement finally won some ground. Yet still things were not really smooth among our very ethnically diverse population and we suffered even more growing pains. Eventually we have grown to ”Sea to shining sea” and actually beyond. We are now fifty states, as far North as Alaska, West to Hawaii, and our Southern tip is Key West Florida, East to Bangor Maine. We even have territories farther west to the American Samoa’s, even farther south to Puerto Rico, and others that I have not mentioned. We have become very large indeed for a country that only started out with thirteen states. We have grown to a population that may even exceed three hundred million by the 2010 census. Now that is a lot of people, and we are not of the same ethnicity like many of the other nations on this planet. Take China, for instance. Very few Chinese Nationals are not of Chinese ethnicity. Very few Russians are not Caucasian. Let’s face it, the United States of America is the most ethnically diverse nation on this planet. The question remains, just how do we fairly represent a nation of this geographical, populous and ethnic size? Especially in the Executive Branch of our government? I contend that one single person is not the answer.
And that is why we need to replace the position of President of the United States. That job is just too sensitive and too complicated for just one person to effectively and fairly handle. This country has simply outgrown, in size, ethnicity and population, the single leader concept. It’s that simple to state, but it is not simple to remedy. At least on the surface it may not seem simple.
If you want to find out how I would propose to remedy this, come back tomorrow.
See you then.

Part Three

Nothing worth doing is ever easy; if it were then it wouldn’t be worth doing, would it? Now comes the hard part. We have to change the face of government in order to bring it up into the 21st Century.
For some unknown reason, I believe that George Washington actually foresaw what might be in this country’s future. By that, I mean what is happening now, this quickening slide toward Socialism. I believe that is the reason he was against political parties. Somehow he knew that these organizations would eventually undermine what the writers of the Constitution actually had in mind. I believe he knew that in order for his fledgling country to survive it would have to expand, but I do not think even he knew just how much it would expand over the North American land mass. The political system that our forefathers invented was actually perfect for a country the size of the original thirteen small states. But now we have slightly outgrown that system, therefore we have to alter its face ever so slightly, being ever so careful so as to not destroy what was originally built. Yes, this is the hard part. Not only to do, but to understand why and how.
Some time ago those in Congress decided to make our Senate an elected body. That was not what our founders intended, for that brought that branch into the political party fold. We must return that body to what the founding fathers intended for the Senators, two from each state, to be appointed by that states governor. However, the method of appointment needs to be altered slightly. A governor may appoint only ONE senator during his/her term in office. The length of that term and the limit to be re-appointed is up to that states voters to decide. I believe that this move would effectively distance that branch from the other branches to the extent that it would be lent better to the system of checks and balances. Along with the abolishment of political parties, returning the control of Senators to the individual states can only be a plus factor in bringing the employees (politicians) more under the positive control of the employers (We The People). A task easier said than done.
Then we must change the Judicial Branch of government ever so slightly. This will be even more difficult. Right now the Supreme Court Justices and all Federal level judges are appointed by the President of the United States, and their term is for as long as they want to serve or until they die – whichever comes first(sounds like a used car warranty, doesn't it?). I believe that this practice brings the Judicial Branch and the Executive Branch too close in alignment. The original idea was for the three branches to be separate in order for the check and balance system to work more effectively. Being so closely related politically along with party affiliations has made this practice render this branch not only ineffective, but way too politically connected to party lines. Justice is supposed to be blind. She cannot be if she is “Married to the Mob” so to speak. Federal Judges, including United States Supreme Court Justices, need to be subject to the election process in which the voting public will be able to scrutinize the candidates’ judicial record from the time they passed the bar. Then there must be term limitations imposed, of say not more than five or seven years each.
Doing these things would insure a fair amount of separation between the branches of government, and that would give better credence to the check and balance system our forefathers envisioned when they wrote the constitution so many years ago.
There is much more, and it does not get any easier to swallow.
See you tomorrow.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Part Two

Okay! After what I wrote yesterday, this should be simple. Not! Getting rid of political parties and scrapping the IRS codes and replacing them with as close to a fair way to tax and finance our government is only the beginning.
The next thing on this agenda is to limit what our politicians can reap from what we sow. We need to put the political pay scale on the same level as the federally mandated minimum wage, and not one penny more! This is to ensure that one enters the political ring for the purpose of serving the greater good of all U.S. citizens and not for the express purpose of personal monetary gain. We must not forget that congressional offices cost money to run, and that could be handled by a separate Office of Congressional Management and Budget. This is to ensure that our tax money is not wasted on garbage junkets and the like. More positive control over our government would be the end result. Senators and members of the House would have to submit a detailed budget to this office on an annual basis, and have to justify the expenses – Kind of like what we have to do now with the IRS.
Then we must require that all federal employees – including politicians – pay into and benefit from our Social Security System. No more PERS or FERS. They would reap the same retirement benefits as do all of us. If they want more, then they can build a retirement nest egg just like we ordinary folks do. I believe that we all should live entirely within our means, that reckless extravagance should not be rewarded as it is now in our currant political system. If we want more, then we should work more to get more, and that we should be able to keep more of what we work for. What is good for the ordinary citizen should be just fine for the politician. That way the politician does not lose the feeling of what we ordinary folks are and how we live. If they want it better for themselves, then they have to figure out how to make it better for all of us.
So here we are; first scrap the IRS and replace it with a flat rate tax for all. Second; Place the Federal pay scale to the minimum wage and put tight controls on how our tax money is used by the individual politician, include the political retirement plan in the Social Security System. Remember that Social Security was only intended to be a supplement to our own retirement investment plans, not the only retirement income we have.
Come back tomorrow to see what is next.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Part One

Here it is. The year is 2009. Our political system is still basically stuck in 1776! But wait . . . Our first President, George Washington, did not want political party’s influencing our government. Why? I believe he once wrote that he believed political parties would destroy our democracy. Really? You mean like what is happening now?

I agree. Our democracy is being slowly destroyed, inch by inch. I believe that a candidate might tell us during the campaign what ever he or she thinks we want to hear, then once elected to office that candidate will follow the lines dictated by the party they belong to. Why? Because campaigning has become so expensive in this modern era that every candidate has to accept the vast amounts of money that their respective political party’s rake in. Once you do that, you agree to follow the party “Platform” as they call it. That candidate is now bought and paid for, lock, stock and YOUR VOTE!

We the people have been continuously lied to for decades, if not centuries. This country, once a proud stalwart of Democracy and Freedom, is now slowly descending into the depths of Socialism all because the two main political parties that have control in Washington D.C. have lost their way. I do not know just when this all started, nor will I speculate as to why they are doing what they are doing. All I am saying that it is high time for a drastic change to our Constitution, to bring it into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming if we have to.

The first step is to do what our first President really wanted us to do. Abolish all political parties from this country, a task easier said than done that will take a Constitutional amendment. That will be a very big step, seemingly impossible to accomplish. But it can be done, only if we the people step up to the plate and demand that it be done our way!

Remember that this is only the first step, and along with this first step we need to insure our own survival along with that of our country. How? By revamping how our government is financed and by whom it is financed. Global free trade is coming whether we like it or not, so eventually tariffs and the like will be going by the wayside. That cannot be stopped because most of the rest of the Nations on this planet want it. Then what are we to do? Still another part of this Constitutional amendment will have to deal with that issue, or it can be an amendment of its own. Either way we have to scrap the Internal Revenue code altogether and replace it with a flat rate earnings tax, of say 10%. I believe that this is the only way this can work. No tax shelters of any kind, no deductions of any kind, no exemptions of any kind. Earn a dollar – pay a dime. Businesses and individuals alike, and absolutely no tax-free organizations what-so-ever! We all pay in, period.

There is no such thing as a fair tax. Nor will there ever be, just tax. If we all agree to one set limit, and no way out, that is about as close to fair as we can get. And we can do more, much more to insure that our tax money is used in the manner that it should be used. That will be the subject of tomorrow’s entry into this insane idea.

See Ya Then!

A Solution To Our Currant Governmental Dilemma

Yes, I know that today is Friday the 13th. Starting on Monday 16 March 2009 I will begin posting a five part solution to what I see as our Governmental Dilemma. Most people won't like it. But why complain about a problem without offering a solution?

What's In a Number? That Depends on How You Define 'Homeless'

Friday, March 13, 2009
By Joshua Rhett Miller

A well publicized report this week that an estimated 1.5 million American children experienced homelessness in 2005-06 did not use the federal definition of homelessness. Instead, it used a different definition that grossly inflated the actual number.

The report — released Tuesday by the National Center on Family Homelessness and reported by numerous news organizations, including FOXNews.com — estimated that one out of every 50 children in America experienced "homelessness" during that two-year span.

But rather than using the definition of homelessness established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Massachusetts-based organization used a standard adopted by the Department of Education that includes children who are "doubled up," or children who share housing with other persons due to economic hardship or similar reason.

The difference? About 1,170,000 children.

An estimated 330,000 sheltered and unsheltered homeless children were identified in HUD's July 2007 report to Congress as those who are "literally homeless," or those living in homeless facilities or in places not meant for human habitation, according to the report.

The remaining 1.17 million — those who are precariously housed or who may be doubled up with friends and relatives or paying extremely high proportions of their resources for rent — are not included in HUD's report.

"It's not consistent with the definition that we've applied in academic research for more than 20 years and it's inconsistent with federal housing policy," University of Pennsylvania Professor of Sociology Dennis Culhane, a principal investigator of HUD's report, told FOXNews.com. "People who are doubled up are not counted as homeless."

Culhane — who testified before Congress last year on the reauthorization of the McKinney-Vento Act of 1987, a law that provides federal money for homeless shelters — said the Department of Education uses a different definition to address the needs of temporarily displaced children. The act also requires that states provide "homeless" children access to free public education.

"For that purpose they are labeled 'homeless,' and covered under federal policy to assure that they get transported to their school, but they are not otherwise considered homeless under federal housing policy," Culhane wrote to FOXNews.com.

National Center on Family Homelessness President Ellen Bassuk acknowledged that HUD's "more strict" definition refers to individuals who are "literally homeless," but she said that definition excludes about 30 percent of homeless families housed in private, faith-based or domestic violence-related shelters.

"It's a tighter one," Bassuk said, comparing HUD'S definition of homeless to the Education Department's. "It's not about the absolute fact of literal homelessness versus not … That's the intention of the [DOE] definition and that's why we adopted it."

Bassuk said the number of homeless children in the center's 2005-06 report represents an "extreme undercount" of current figures due to the worsening recession and housing crisis.

"We do not use the numbers for any kind of dramatic effect," Bassuk said. "Our numbers are at best an undercount."

Gregg Wiggins, a spokesman for the Education Department, said its definition of homelessness was changed in the early 1990s to add those who are "doubled up" and unaccompanied youth.

"It made sense for providing school services," said Wiggins.

Patrick Markee, a senior policy analyst for the Coalition of the Homeless, acknowledged the ongoing debate regarding the definition of homelessness, but he said he supported the report.

"Folks who are living doubled-up with another primary tenant are effectively homeless," Markee said. "They may not be sleeping on the sidewalk or on the subway train, but they're homeless."

According to the report, which also graded every U.S. state on how it addresses "homelessness," a staggering 204,053 children in Louisiana were homeless at some point in 2005-06, a figure the report acknowledges may be unusually high due to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.

Using the Education Department's definition, that would include students who stayed with relatives as the torrential hurricanes pulverized southeastern U.S. cities.

"People in substandard, overcrowded, or unaffordable housing are facing real housing problems, to be sure, but we won't solve their problems by dubbing them 'homeless' and trying to make them eligible for the minimal resources in the homeless system," Culhane told FOXNews.com in an e-mail.

What the heck is our new President Mr. Barack Hussein Obama doing? It seems to me that each and every time he opens his mouth on the economy, or his so-called stimulus package/bill, the DOW tanks 200+ points or more!

And why is it that the news media refuses to use his middle name?

Has anyone ever seen a political satire cartoon on BHO yet?

WHY NOT?

How is that for an opening salvo?

Lets have your thoughts on this, please.
